Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
There are chocolate chip cookies, and then there are brown butter chocolate chip cookies. Nutty, slightly crisp at the edge, soft in the center — finished with flaky sea salt.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp kosher salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Flaky sea salt for finishing
Method
Brown the butter over medium heat until golden and nutty. Let cool 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix browned butter with both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla.
Fold in dry ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips. Scoop onto baking sheet lined with parchment. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers remain soft. Sprinkle with flaky salt immediately. Cool on rack.
