Start with a drawer.
“Start with a drawer.” Simple advice… and honestly, the only reason I followed it.
When Nightstands Become Junk Drawers
My nightstands had slowly evolved into junk drawers pretending to be functional. A little bit of everything, no real system, and just enough chaos that finding anything required unnecessary commitment. If I needed something specific, I’d dig around until I found it… or decided I didn’t need it that badly after all.
Editing Without Overthinking
So I started small. I emptied one drawer, edited ruthlessly, and put things back with intention. Keeping everything visible and neatly contained made an immediate difference. Less clutter, less rummaging, and no more mystery items living rent-free in my nightstand.
The Payoff of Starting Small
It took longer than I expected, but the payoff was immediate. Opening a drawer and knowing exactly what’s inside feels like a quiet luxury. And starting small made the rest of the organizing feel far less intimidating.
Low effort, high return. I’ll take it.
